Funny rant from Matt Damon on Sarah Palin, Vice Presidential candidate.
The reference to Palin’s creationist beliefs (i.e. does she believe dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago?) is excellent.
Apparently, Palin was asked about whether creationism should be taught in schools when she was campaigning for Governor of Alaska. Here’s her response:
“Teach both. You know, don’t be afraid of information. Healthy debate is so important and it’s so valuable in our schools. I am a proponent of teaching both. And you know, I say this too as the daughter of a science teacher. Growing up with being so privileged and blessed to be given a lot of information on, on both sides of the subject — creationism and evolution. It’s been a healthy foundation for me. But don’t be afraid of information and let kids debate both sides.”
Some of us would argue that telling kids the world was created 6,000 years ago (or was it 4,000?) is akin to teaching them the universe revolves around the earth and that giant glass spheres hold up the planets.
